Laurent Grasso in 20 Years of The Marcel Duchamp Award

Created in 2000 at the initiative of the Association for the International Dissemination of French Art (Adiaf), the Marcel Duchamp Prize is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. On the occasion of this anniversary, nineteen works of the Prize winners are presented at level 4 of the contemporary collections, accompanying the exhibition of the four nominees for the 2020 edition in Gallery 3. Mainly from the collections of the Musée national d’art moderne, the works are displayed throughout the tour. In some cases they find historical echoes there, like Julien Prévieux or Mathieu Mercier in dialogue with Marcel Broodthaers, and in other cases form autonomous paradigms, like Tatiana Found and Cyprien Gaillard. Attesting to the diversity of the French artistic scene, this retrospective of the Marcel Duchamp Prize also offers the beginnings of a history of art in the making.
