Idris Khan new public installation: 65,000 Photographs

Idris Khan’s first public sculpture in the UK 65,000 Photographs has been revealed at One Blackfriars in London. The abstract, eight-meter high column is formed of several blocks, which are stacked on top of each other growing in size towards the top; their dimensions representing the standard sizes of photographic prints. The work makes reference to Khan’s personal archive of 65,000 photographs, which the artist took over the past five years, encouraging the beholder to reflect on the extent to which taking pictures and capturing memories to document our lives has increased and continues to increase. 65,000 Photographs has been commissioned by the Southwark London Borough Council and St. George City.
