With the Trans Europa Express series, the Kunsthaus NRW is strengthening the exchange between NRW and its European neighbors. Inviting artists from beyond borders to the Kunsthaus is intended to enrich the discussion on current topics. To kick things off, the Antwerp-based artist David Claerbout (* 1969 in Kortrijk, BE) is showing his video installation Wildfire (2019/20), which shows the fire in a forest, in the hall of the Kunsthaus for the first time in North Rhine-Westphalia. Claerbout became known worldwide for his large-format video installations in which he tested the limits of computer technology. His films create a moment of pause, even though they put the viewer in motion.
