VIP Day: Thursday, September 24, 2026
Public Days: September 25–27, 2026

Sean Kelly Gallery is delighted to return to The Armory Show with a thoughtfully curated presentation of new and recent works by Lindsay Adams, Dawoud Bey, Julian Charrière, Jose Dávila, Awol Erizku, Magdiel García Almanza, Ana González, Laurent Grasso, Donna Huanca, Idris Khan, Anthony McCall, Hugo McCloud, Sam Moyer, Shahzia Sikander, Janaina Tschäpe, and Kehinde Wiley. Spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and mosaic, the works on our booth bring together artists whose work explores material transformation, memory, landscape, and the body.

Laurent Grasso’s new painting, from his ongoing Studies into the Past series, takes inspiration from nineteenth-century American landscape painter Frederic Edwin Church. This work introduces the Iridescent Curtain, a supernatural phenomenon from his latest film, which premieres at MASS MoCA in November. Janaina Tschäpe’s new painting transforms aquatic and biomorphic forms through fluid gestures into an immersive, imagined landscape, while Lindsay Adams debuts a new tondo painting which continues her Lamp Black series. The work resists a fixed narrative and singular reading through abstraction and painterly movement. A work from Ana González’s Devastations series examines landscape and absence, reflecting on environments transformed by human intervention.

In advance of his forthcoming solo exhibition at the gallery in November, Kehinde Wiley presents a new female portrait, continuing his investigation of visibility, and the conventions of Western art history. Hugo McCloud’s new painting is the first from his Burdened Man series to introduce oil paint onto his distinctive plastic surface, creating a convergence of material and subject matter within this body of work. McCloud’s solo museum exhibition opens at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York, next week. Shahzia Sikander presents a mosaic that merges the visual traditions of Indo-Persian miniature painting, reimagining historical forms through her distinctly layered visual language. A new triptych by Sam Moyer marks a significant departure in her work, pushing the boundaries of painting and sculpture as marble ferns transverse the three panels of the work. Donna Huanca’s biomorphically shaped, painted sculpture evokes metamorphosis through her exploration of the body and surface, while Magdiel García Almanza’s joyful wooden sculpture oscillates between abstraction and figuration, drawing upon modernist and Cubist vocabularies.

Julian Charrière’s sculpture, from a series that debuted at the 2026 Venice Biennale, is a clock that no longer measures time conventionally, but instead has become a surface upon which time is expressed as a physical accumulation. A painting by Idris Khan, hand-stamped with layers of gold-leaf musical notation, similarly explores the passage of time while continuing his investigation of color, repetition, and the spiritual potential of abstraction.

Dawoud Bey’s iconic photograph of David Hammons’s now-iconic 1983 Bliz-aard Ball Sale, captures a fleeting intervention at the intersection of art, commerce, and public space. Jose Dávila’s photographic cut-out, inspired by Picasso’s interpretation of Velazquez’s Las Meninas, removes key visual information to foreground composition, absence, and image as physical object.

A photograph by Awol Erizku reimagines the still life genre through the lens of contemporary Black culture; an edition of this work is in the collection at the Getty Museum. Anthony McCall’s chromogenic prints with burn marks reference his seminal 1972 performance Landscape for Fire, an early work in his investigations of light, duration, and performance. McCall’s seventh solo exhibition is currently on view at Sean Kelly, New York located a few blocks from the Javits Center.

Together, the presentation highlights the diverse ways the gallery’s artists transform materials, images, and histories to create new perspectives on the contemporary world.
