“For this show in Oviedo, I feel that the best way to understand my work is to show video works where the performance takes the center stage. Some performances are short, whereas others are long-durational. However, all of them share one important leitmotif in my work: the investigation of body and mind.”
Marina Abramović, 2021 Princess of Asturias Laureate for the Arts, made this statement in London before the forthcoming exhibition of her work in Oviedo, which forms part of the “Awards Week” cultural programme.
Entitled “Marina Abramović - Performative Video Works”, the show will contain a sample of eight works selected by the artist herself brought together exclusively on the occasion of the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony.
Tracing a path through the artist’s career and the main thematic and aesthetic strands of her oeuvre, the exhibition will be housed in the former La Vega Arms Factory in Oviedo.
