On the occasion of “Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022”, Meno Parkas Gallery presents the exhibition “Memory of Being” by the icon of the world of art, performance artist Marina Abramović. The exhibition will be presented in Kaunas Picture Gallery (this branch of The M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art is located at K. Donelaičio street 16, Kaunas). The exhibition will be open from the 30th of March to the 31st of July 2022.
Marina Abramović’s works from the 1960s to the present day will be shown in detail. The exhibition is unique in its form – it is the first time when the artworks of Marina Abramović are presented as an impressive video installation created from different kind of documentation and films on the selected performances. According to the artist, this selection merges into an integral piece of opera.
The visitors of the exhibition will have a chance to get acquainted with the documentary material and an interview with the artist, her artistic biography, her famous Manifesto, and her unique creative Method. Next to that, the catalogue The Cleaner, which presents Marina Abramović’s work in most detail to date, will be available for this special occasion.
The fans of Marina Abramović will be invited to an open meeting with the artist in the Žalgirio arena on the 31st of March. At the meeting, Marina will give a lecture on “Performance. Past. The Present. The Future.“
