Laraaji
Special Musical Performance
Sean Kelly, New York
Friday, October 7, 6:30 - 7:30pm

Sean Kelly is delighted to announce a special musical performance by internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist Laraaji will take place in Landon Metz's exhibition, A Different Kind of Paradise on Friday, October 7. The performance celebrates the launch of Abundance Zine, a new podcast co-hosted by Landon Metz and Christopher Schreck, which highlights new models of thought and production in fields ranging from art and music, to floristry and farming.

Abundance Zine explores creative practices as vehicles for change and "celebrates
transformative practices in contemporary culture.” Produced by Ryan Leahey, (Sean Kelly Gallery, Acquavella Galleries, Barbara London Calling, etc.) and released every three weeks, the podcast will feature guests from a wide range of disciplines whose methods speak to contemporary issues, while suggesting more rewarding ways of living and working. Season 1 premieres on October 4th with episodes featuring downtown jewelry label Beepy Bella and legendary New Age musician Laraaji.

Recognized as a New Age visionary sound artist, Laraaji channels new music using a modified electric zither, harp, voice, kalimba, and electronics. His music tends toward celestial trance, inducing an uplifting atmosphere.

Upcoming guests include artist/Sky High Farms founder Dan Colen, conceptual floral brand Wretched Flowers, artist/musician Hayden Dunham (aka Hyd), and furniture designer Minjae Kim. “These are people whose work we find not only inspiring, but also instructive,” says Schreck. “Each one grounds their approach in certain core values: intentionality, interconnectivity, cooperation. Our goal with the series is to amplify these practices and show how they raise critical questions about our collective state, while offering a new sphere of possibilities in response.”

For Metz and Schreck, who have collaborated since 2012 on projects ranging from exhibitions and essays to independent publishing, hosting Abundance Zine is a chance to delve deeper into themes that have guided their own creative output. “We both see the podcast as an opportunity to explore ideas that matter to us as individuals and inform our respective practices,” says Metz. “For us, the conversations have been enlightening and uplifting, and we hope the same is true for our listeners.”
