Johan Grimonprez at Art Unlimited, Booth U13, Vernissage on June 14

Laurent Grasso at Art Film - June 16

For the 41st edition of Art Basel, Sean Kelly Gallery will showcase works by Marina Abramović, Los Carpinteros, James Casebere, Leandro Erlich, Iran do Espírito Santo, Antony Gormley, Laurent Grasso, Rebecca Horn, Callum Innes, Joseph Kosuth, Wolfgang Laib, Robert Mapplethorpe, Anthony McCall, Julie Roberts, Julião Sarmento, Frank Thiel and Gavin Turk. Our booth number is N2 and is located on the 2nd floor of Halle 2.1. The vernissage will take place from 11am until 9pm on Tuesday, June 15.

Concurrently at Art Unlimited, Sean Kelly Gallery and Galerie Kamel Menour will present Johan Grimonprez's interactive installation BED. The installation consists of the projection of the interior of a bedroom with an open window through which a deer unexpectedly jumps onto a bed. A motion sensor triggered by passers-by creates this startling and unexpected happenstance. BED successfully functions as an ephemeral gesture crossing the boundaries of reality and fiction, the private and public spheres, interior and exterior. The Art Unlimited vernissage will take place from 4pm until 7pm on Monday, June 14, 2010, and will be open to the public through June 20.

The film Satellite (2006) by Laurent Grasso will be shown at 10pm on June 16 as part of Art Film in the Stadtkino Basel. In Satellite, the French actress Carole Bouquet is seen in a beam of light projected into a dark, empty space. A computer-controlled camera circles and scrutinizes her as though she were an abandoned cinematographic object.

Art 41 Basel and Art Unlimited will be open to the public from Wednesday, June 16 through Sunday, June 20, 2010. Daily hours are 11am to 7pm.
