Marina Abramović: The House with the Ocean View

Charta, January 2004

簡介

This publication chronicles Marina Abramović's historic performance, The House with the Ocean View. For twelve days in November 2002, Abramović lived on three elevated platforms in the Sean Kelly Gallery in New York. She did not eat or speak, nor did she have any privacy: the three minimally furnished "rooms" bathroom, sitting room and bedroom she occupied were open, and each day viewers were able to observe her every movement during normal gallery hours. Leaned against each platform were three ladder with rungs made of large knives, blades upward—that emphasized the artist's steadfast resolve to endure whatever physical or mental challenges the work might bring.
