The exhibition is accompanied by a publication, launched by Es Baluard; this catalogue is enriched by the monograph recently published by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, which gives a comprehensive insight into the artistic practices of Los Carpinteros from 2003-2010. Los Carpinteros. Handwork – Constructing the World will be on view from October 15, 2011 through January 22, 2012.

The exhibition at Es Baluard is centered around four major sculptures and installations: Cama (2007), a bed intertwined in the shape of a pretzel; Portaviones (2005), a miniaturized pool that takes the shape of an aircraft carrier; Frío Estudio del Desastre (2005), a precise reconstruction of a wall penetrated by a missile, frozen in time at the moment of explosion; and Espejos de Agua (2001), an installation of multiple old fashioned drawing tables covered with pools water that reflect the electric light of desktop lamps. The exhibition will also include a series of large-scale watercolors which exemplify the complex relationship between drawing and object, design and sculpture that characterizes their oeuvre.
